Work! Work! Work!

“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them…God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” (Genesis 1:26–27, 31 NIV)

God’s view of work is so important that He was involved with it from the very beginning. His relationship with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden was a spiritual bond that was first established through work. And like the work of Adam and Eve, the things we do should also be experienced in the context of an intimate relationship with God. In Genesis 1:31, God was pleased with the work He had performed, indicating it was “very good”, and giving us the sense that our work is not just a necessary evil but actually part of His perfect plan for us.

We were made “to” work and “for” work. Our work has value because God values it. It is part of His plan for us! Use your talents and skills this Thursday to develop a stronger spiritual bond with our Savior! Enjoy your day, “Working for Christ”!
