Spiritual Labor!

“We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (1 Thessalonians 1:3, NIV)

Spiritual labor is work done with the Lord and for the Lord. It is a new mother rocking her baby, while she prays for God’s blessing. It is a blue-collar worker who is diligent in his or her duties. It is an employee that is punctual when others are late. Spiritual labor is an executive, a manager, or administrative assistant who will not compromise their character just to get ahead in the company. We are spiritual laborers when we do our work first and foremost for our heavenly Father. We stand firm in faith-motivated work. When we wake up every day we are grateful to represent Christ in our workplaces.

Don’t be surprised if this type of integrity irritates others. Continue to work, trusting in the Lord, even when the results aren’t immediately evident. Don’t let anything move you from moving closer to God. Our labor in the Lord is not in vain. It brings joy to our Father and builds character in our lives!
