The Bible – Our Manual For Success!

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” (James 1:19-20, NIV)

Our behavior at work, or wherever we are, can lead others toward Christ or drive them away. James teaches us to “be quick to listen [and] slow to speak.” Can you imagine how much more we might learn in life if we actually followed this advice? James also implores us to be “slow to become angry.” How many times has our anger provided a source of negative motivation to those around us?

As we strive to become better bosses and employees, we need to look to the Bible as our “Manual for Success”. We need to learn to set aside our own agendas so we can listen and learn from those around us.

Imagine that Jesus is your boss. What values would He want His employees to embody? It’s likely that He would want us to value the same things that we find throughout the Scriptures – the values that can guide us to behave in a way that will lead others toward Christ.

Enjoy your Friday and this weekend, “Working for Christ”!
