Let Your Light Shine!

“…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, NIV)

Everything we say and do is visible to those around us. When we use profanity, or tell nasty jokes, people make judgments about our character – and our “light” begins to flicker. When we lose our patience in rush hour traffic and make obscene gestures with our finger, we show others a small glimpse of our personality – and our “light” continues to flicker. When we exaggerate the truth or embellish a story to make it sound better than it really is, we lose respect and trust from those we are trying to impress – and our “light” flickers. None of these things bring glory to our Father. They simply show everyone around us that we have succumbed to the world and that we are weak and vulnerable! Our “light” cannot survive in that environment. It will be extinguished!

It’s never too late to make amends. New beginnings are the result of new attitudes. Start by asking the Holy Spirit to rekindle your “light”. Lean on Him every single day to help you defeat your old habits. Before you know it, your “light” will be shining brightly and your life will become a blessing to those around you. His “light” will shine wherever you go!

Rekindle your “light” this Thursday! Shine brightly wherever you go and with everything you say. Enjoy your day, “Working for Christ”!
