Sneak Away From Work Today!

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1, NIV)

Have you ever been in the middle of a really stressful day and suddenly wished you could escape to a quiet, peaceful, place? It’s easy for us to submit to frustration or despair when we have more tasks in front of us than we can handle, or when we have things to do that we really don’t enjoy doing.

The bible teaches that in our hectic moments – as well as in our peaceful moments – we have a shelter available to us who will shield us from our fears, stress, despair, and anything else that may get in our way.

The bible describes God as “a strong tower” (Psalm 61:3). If we simply stop and close our eyes to consider that our God is a shelter from all adversity and a strong, protective father who is always on our side, we can relax and find a few moments of peace and solitude.

It’s important to take time each day to focus on God – to find a quiet place with Him – where the “craziness” of this world simply falls away. We can then move back into the flow of our lives, still sensing and knowing that we’re in God’s shelter, living with the peace and confidence of being covered by Him. As the psalmist writes, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge” (Psalm 91:4).

Life is often a whirlwind of commitments, responsibilities, and deadlines. God knows we need rest and peace in our lives, so He offers Himself as a sanctuary. All we need to do is to “sneak away” and enter His shelter – (even if that simply means to close our eyes and rest in Him)!
