“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”  (2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV)

Have you ever heard the expression; “You reap what you sow?” If you arrive late to work every day, take long lunches, leave early, pass your work on to someone else, and spend hours playing on the internet during the time you are supposed to be working, you’re sowing some pretty bad seed, and you’re not giving God the respect He deserves.

God wants to bless us, but if we show a lack of integrity on the job, we disrespect Him. He gives us the talents and skills to do our work. He has placed us at our jobs to serve Him, not ourselves. “But”, you say, “you don’t understand. My company treats everyone poorly. They don’t pay me enough for what I do, so I’m going to give them only what they pay me for. That seems fair to me”. That may be true – your employer may not pay you very well, but that doesn’t give you the right to give sparingly to your employer. By doing so, you are giving sparingly to God.

No matter how badly you feel your company is treating you, give it everything you have every day. Do your work as if Jesus was your boss. Earn your paycheck, and show God the respect He deserves. Before you know it, you’ll reap a generous harvest of blessing from our Savior!
