“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.” (Ephesians 4:11-14, NIV)

When a Christian submits to Christ and offers to serve Him, Christ often uses that person in his or her existing situation and circumstances. Our jobs are key places where God is likely to use His people. Paul was aware of that we he wrote to the citizens of Ephesus.

It is often through our work, or through work-related contacts, that we learn about people who lack spiritual stability or have quirky beliefs. They may not realize it, but they very well could use our good example and our quiet prayers. This is definitely a place where God can use us right where we are.

Or perhaps there are other Christians in our workplaces. God would be delighted to see us build each other up with encouragement and interaction. Those types of friendships can only strengthen the total Christian impact within our workplace.

Ask God to lead you into helping build up the body of Christians at your place of employment. Ask Him to help you identify those who are spiritually adrift. When you submit to God and His purposes at work, He will help you. If you are already active for Him at work, renew your commitment to Him in that area.

Today starts a new work-year. Let’s use our love for Christ to bring others closer to Him!

Enjoy your Wednesday, “Working for Christ”!

We had a Christian “fellowship” group where I used to work, but unfortunately, the ones running it were only interested in telling those who weren’t members of their particular denomination why they were wrong. Very sad really and did nothing to promote the Gospel of Christ.
