WORK YOUR PLAN!

“If you plan to do evil, you will be lost; if you plan to do good, you will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.” (Proverbs 14:22, NLT)

Proverbs

In business there is a saying to “plan your work and work your plan.” When you set out to carry out your goals, it’s important to develop a plan that will serve as a “road map” to get you from Point A to Point B. Success awaits you just on the other side of Point B. If you follow your plan precisely, you will do the things you set out to do. If you don’t, there must be something wrong with the plan.

As humans, we have the ability to think (plan) before we act. In other words, before we sin we actually plan how we are going to do it. For instance, to cheat someone, we make a plan. We plan to steal from the cash register. We plan to feign an illness so we can get a day off. We plan an affair with the boss’ new secretary. We plan a lie to avoid confrontation.

Everything we do is planned. Every plan is made up of choices. The choices we make determine whether we “will be lost” or whether we “will receive unfailing love and faithfulness.”

Why would we ever decide to “plan to do evil”? I’m not sure, but I’ve done it hundreds, if not thousands, of times. We all have. It’s our nature. We live in a broken world. But we can do better. Christ died so we could live, and not be lost. He lives in us and will help us make the right choices if we ask Him.

God’s plan is for us to do His will. As believers in Christ, we must plan our lives in a way that will serve Him. Plan to follow Him from this day forward. Choose unfailing love and faithfulness over evil when that choice is placed in front of you.
