“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7, NLT)

There is no such thing as a “Christian” company. It’s true. There are companies that are owned by Christians. There are companies who try to operate on Christian principles. But there is no such thing as a “Christian” company. Let me explain.

Corporations are legal entities set up to limit the liability of their owners. That’s it. There will be no companies in heaven. Companies don’t have “souls.” Companies can’t get “saved” or even “burn in hell.” The best you can hope for is to find an organization that is led by a Christian person. If he/she is empowered to create a “Christian-friendly” environment, then you might enjoy some of the benefits – freedom to openly discuss and express your faith, Bible study or prayer opportunities, company-backed charity efforts and a respectful and caring environment.

What can you do if your company is not led by a Christian? Make it your goal to create a “Christian-friendly” environment in your workplace, regardless of the faith of your superiors. Affirm the other Christians in your workplace. Start a prayer group that meets before work. Take the lead to reach out to the poor, hurting, and needy in your community by stirring up your coworkers to get involved and help. Do all you can to show love and acceptance to everyone you work with, whether you agree with their faith, politics, or lifestyle.

There may not be any such thing as a “Christian” company, but you can work in a Christian-friendly environment. You simply have to create it!

“Let your light shine.” (Matthew 5:16, NLT)

  1. Hi Dave, Wanted to tell you something that came from a conversation with a co-worker yesterday. As I said I don’t claim to be a Christian, he reached for a piece of paper without saying anything and wrote “Lover of Christ”, he knew from conversation, I so agree. God Bless.
