“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance (for the Jews) will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14, NIV)

A Time Like This

Esther took a number of risks. She was an honorable, God-loving woman. She stood for what she believed, even though she could have been killed for her beliefs. Maybe it would have been easier to remain silent, but she knew that silence wouldn’t save her from danger. Eventually, danger would have arrived at her door, so she fought for what she believed.

Standing for what we believe or for what is honorable could cost us a lot, too. We run the risk of losing our jobs or being banished from the company’s inner circle. We may even find that future promotions are unavailable. Are these worthwhile risks? Only you can decide, but living with integrity comes with a price. Unlike some of our coworkers, we have a moral code that surpasses anything written in a policy manual. Our policy manual was written by God who sent His Son to set the example for us.

We know that God blesses obedience. Deuteronomy 28:1 says, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.” So don’t fear your bosses or coworkers, because when you stand for God’s commands, God stands for you.

What valuable words to live by! Take care! 😀

  3. You are so right, our policy manual was written by the Hand of God Himself. We either choose to obey Him or the world. By choosing the world we compromise our witness for Christ. Hard to do but so worth it in the end!

  5. I just read Esther last night. Thank you for the confirmation, we were born for such a time as this. May we find favor and grace with the King of Kings as Esther did.
