“For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” (1 John 2:16-17, NIV)

This passage isn’t just referring to “lust” in a sexual sense, it is addressing our desire to be like someone else – to have their money, power, things, or status in life! The “world” expects us to succeed by advancing our careers, increasing our income, or enhancing our social status. God expects us to succeed simply by developing a closer relationship with Him! He may or may not allow us to succeed in business or to make a lot of money. In the overall scheme of things, that really doesn’t matter. Our relationship with Him is all that is important! By living for Him today, eternity starts right now!

judging others, setting example was the role set for us all, it’s what we allow children to access that should alarm us, blessings

It’s easy to get caught up in the things of the world if we aren’t careful. When success = money (more and more money) then our perspective has changed away from God. It’s easy to get “lost” because we are goal seekers. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
